The Emily beret looks like a knitted one, but it’s crochet. You’ll work in rows sideways, repeating panels that are connected as you go. You need to know how to make a foundation chain, slip stitch and single crochet in back loop and a yarn over a stitch. You also need to be able to follow charts and instructions carefully.

To finish off the beret, I will show you how to make a stalk or a pom pom.

Measurements: Teens and adults (approx. 21-22" [54-56 cm] head circumference)

Materials: 3 balls Drops Merino Extra Fine

Crochet hook: US G6 (4 mm)

Other notions: Stitch markers, scissors, pom pom maker (optional) and tapestry needle for assembly and weaving in.

Gauge: in 2 x 2 Rib stitch, after blocking

18 sts x 16 r = 4” (10 x 10 cm)
